IMPORTANT NOTICE:

February 2024: In an effort to support our mission of serving low-income working families, new enrollment for all Fortress programs is limited to families who receive CCMS subsidies. Priority will be given to families who reside in 76104, 76103, and 76105, but anyone is welcome to apply. Families who are enrolled at Fortress as of 2/12/2024 are strongly encouraged to continue seeking CCMS, but will be allowed to re-enroll for 2024-25 regardless, so long as residence in Historic Southside, parent hours, and student attendance requirements are met.

Are you already a Fortress family?

Before re-registering, ensure that you have met the re-registration qualifications, including the parent hours and student attendance threshold. Please note: Returning families are only guaranteed a spot in our programs during our early registration period.

You must re-register using the same email address and account that you originally registered under. If you cannot remember the email address you originally used, contact one of our parent coordinators or directors for assistance.

Are you a new family?

The enrollment process begins with an eligibility check. If you are eligible, you will be invited to complete a full registration once a spot opens up.

After School Information

Fortress After School serves children in PreK3 through 5th grade who are enrolled at Van Zandt-Guinn Elementary School. We provide academic support to complement the learning at school, including homework help and reading intervention. We also focus on helping students explore and develop their skills and interests through extracurricular activities, providing them with pathways for college and career long after they leave our program!

Fortress After School operates from August-May in conjunction with the Fort Worth ISD school year calendar. Students are picked up from the school (2:15pm for PreK students and 3:00pm for K-5th students). After School runs until 6:00pm.

After School Eligibility

To enroll in Fortress After School, your child must attend Van Zandt-Guinn Elementary School and be in grades PreK3-3rd. Priority enrollment is given to families who receive CCMS subsidies.

While we offer 4th-5th grade program, that enrollment is restricted to returning students who enrolled before they began 4th grade. A rare exception may be made for a 4th or 5th grade student who has younger siblings who are enrolling for the first time.

Summer Information

Fortress Summer serves children ages 6 weeks through 5th grade. We provide ongoing academic and social-emotional support, but also have a special faith-based emphasis during the summer months. Modeled after Vacation Bible School, the summer program introduces biblical concepts and stories and ties them into activities that help combat the summer slide.

Our summer program operates from June-July, typically with four weeks in June and four weeks in July, with the week of Independence Day (July 4th) taken off for summer break. The hours are from 8:00am-2:00pm.

Summer Eligibility

Due to the high demand for summer programming, summer enrollment is open only to families who were enrolled in our after school and preschool programs for the previous school year. New students, including siblings of current students, are not eligible to enroll in the summer program.

Re-Enrollment Eligibility & Wait List Information

Fortress programs are free to all families; however, we do require that students are in attendance for 75% of programs and that parents complete 12 parent involvement hours during the school year. Students and families who do not meet these requirements will not be allowed to re-enroll in our programs.

New families are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. New families who are eligible for the program are encouraged to complete the application early. If no spots are available, families are placed on the waiting list. Families are contacted when a position becomes available. New enrollees are accepted for the duration of the school year, from August-May. Students who are on the wait list in May are given first priority for enrollment for the next school year. If you are on the waiting list and need to update your contact information, you can login to your account at www.myprocare.com or contact Fortress.
