Summer break is finally here! We are so proud of our students and families for persevering through one of the toughest years we’ve ever experienced. Thank you for hanging on through June as we wrapped up an extra long school. A special shout-out to the awesome teachers not only at Fortress, but at Van Zandt-Guinn, for helping our kiddos continue to enjoy learning and school through this long spring semester!
As we prepare for our summer program (Monday through Thursday from 8am-2pm, July 5th-July 29th), we have a few important reminders and updates for you. Please read through them carefully!
Park here for drop-off and pick-up. Handicap parking is available in the front of the building.
Drop-Off & Pick-Up
All families must park and walk their child(ren) into our facility to complete our check-in and check-out procedures. Do not send your child(ren) inside unaccompanied.
Please park in the west parking lot between Fortress and Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. There is also limited parking, including handicap parking, in the front of the building. Please do NOT park in the driveway in front of our entrance.
Authorized Pickup People
We are using a computer system to do check-in and check-out. Please allow a few extra minutes during your first drop-off or pick-up because you will need to set up a PIN to sign your children in and out on one of our iPads or computers. This will be the same PIN you’ll use throughout the summer and school year, so make sure it is something you can remember easily! Every pickup person will need to use their own PIN, so please do not share your PIN with anyone.
We will only release your children to people who are in our computer system who you have authorized as a designated pickup person, which you did during registration. You can check and update this list by logging into your account on our registration website, www.myprocare.com. Please let us know if you have any questions!
Hours of Operation and Arrival Times
Our summer program runs from 8:00am-2:00pm for all students. Students must arrive between 8:00am-9:00am to be admitted for the day. We will be running the summer program Monday-Thursday from July 5-29. We serve breakfast, lunch and snack to all students daily.
Masks & COVID-19 Protocol
Thank you all for your feedback about mask-wearing. Based on the response from our families and CDC guidance, we will continue requiring non-vaccinated people ages 12 and older — including staff, volunteers, and parents — to wear a mask while indoors and in close proximity to others. However, we will no longer require students under the age of 12 to wear a mask. For more details, read the full list of our updated COVID-19 safety precautions.
Our summer logo features a butterfly and our Bible memory verse.
Summer Learning
Our summer program is designed not only to keep your children engaged in academic learning throughout the summer, but also to enrich their faith through Bible-based lessons. This summer, all students will be learning how God transforms us and the world around us for His glory. We will be diving in to our memory verse, Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” We will be learning the stories of Paul on the road to Damascus (Acts Chapter 9), Ruth following Naomi to a new land (Ruth Chapters 1-2), Rahab helping God’s people conquer Jericho (Joshua Chapters 2 & 6), and Peter Walking on Water (Matthew Chapter 4). We encourage you to ask your children what they are learning every day!
We’re also excited to study butterflies this summer! Students will learn how caterpillars transform into butterflies, and we’ll get to see this metamorphosis first hand as we raise our own butterflies and release them into our garden! And finally, your student have already had the opportunity to sign up for special interest classes, including beginning piano, singing, rhythm, dance, crafts, insects and reptiles, cooking, and baking. It’s going to be a fun summer!

As a reminder, our parent line is open for texts or calls for any questions. We do our best to respond as quickly as possible, but you may not receive an immediate response if texting outside of our normal business hours. That number is 817-242-9850.
