Katie currently serves as our Student Programs Coordinator, creating developmentally-appropriate frameworks for our classrooms and supporting teachers with coaching and behavioral support. Previously, she worked with our infants, toddlers, PreK, and after school students as a Lead Teacher and as our Classroom & Curriculum Specialist. Katie has worked with children of all ages since 2016, and recently earned her Childcare Director Credential. One of her favorite experiences in the classroom was working with infants and helping the babies reach important milestones through intentional play. As a coordinator, Katie is gifted with using her classroom experience to coach and support our teachers, especially those new to the field.
Katie found out about Fortress online and fell in love with everything we stand for. Being able to teach the Gospel while serving a community in need is something she is very passionate about! When she found out that Fortress was in need of a new teacher, Katie knew that the Lord was leading her there. She loves the mission statement and all of the amazing work Fortress does for the community and children.
Katie has been married to her high school sweetheart since 2013. They have five beautiful children ranging from 1 to 10 years. In her very limited spare time, she likes to make fun things on her Cricut or spend time with her crazy kids playing outside or watching a fun movie together. Katie grew up in Fort Worth, but has lots of family in Kansas who visit her frequently.
Katie’s favorite bible verse is: “Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”- 1 Peter 3:9
