Meet Keasha, the proud mother of Legend. Keasha’s story of relocating, developing impactful bonds and connections, and making major strides due to participating in Fortress programs is exactly why she’s this month’s Family Spotlight. Let’s hear her story:
Q: How did you hear about Fortress?
Keasha: I recently moved into the neighborhood and my neighbor not only told me about it, but physically took me into the building to enroll my child.
Q: What’s been your experience?
Keasha: I love Fortress. They’re amazing. I can’t brag enough about what they’re doing and what they’ve helped me with.
Q: What have you been able to accomplish?
Keasha: I’ve been able to purchase a home. I moved from Chicago and [the tuition-free early childhood education at] Fortress allowed me to save the money needed to be able to become a homeowner. They just don’t know how much they’ve helped me by allowing my son to go there. I’ve been able to explore different career opportunities without having to consider childcare.
Q: What’s something that you would share with someone else about Fortress?
Keasha: Be open-minded. I love the parent engagement hours. My kid loves the child engagement hours and it ultimately kills two birds with one stone. I get a chance to earn my hours and spend time with my kids. Fortress is my family now. None of it feels like a task.
Q: How has your parent experience been at Fortress?
Keasha: I love ProCare [Fortress’ parent communication app] and the communications we receive from their teachers throughout the day. I enjoy being able to keep up with his nap times and what he ate today. Legend loves Ms. Charisma. She’s his favorite teacher and if she’s not there, he’s not having a good day.
Q: Anything else you’d like to share?
Keasha: To anyone joining, you have to let the process work for you.
